The concept
What remote monitoring actually is
Remote monitoring is knowing the state of a machine you cannot walk up to. An agent installed on the endpoint collects what the company decided to collect and sends it to a console — so a manager in one city can see the workstation of someone three time zones away, without asking anyone to describe their screen over a call.
The useful version is not a screenshot gallery. It is a continuous read of activity, applications, websites, working hours and machine health, kept long enough to answer a question later: what was running when the incident happened, how much of the shift went into the tools the job actually needs, which machine has been offline since Friday.
