The levels
Lockdown comes in levels, all applied remotely:
| Level | What it does | When to use |
|---|---|---|
| Ports | Disables USB and Bluetooth | Standing fleet policy |
| Network | Blocks sites, IPs and public Wi-Fi | Policy per group or per shift |
| Programs | Blocks execution by list | Unapproved tooling |
| Precautionary | Takes the device out of use | Offboarding, loss or incident |
| Power | Shuts the machine down remotely | Emergency or prolonged idleness |
Applying a precautionary lock
- 1Open the device page in the dashboard.
- 2Under Security, pick Precautionary lock.
- 3Record the reason — it goes to the audit trail.
- 4Confirm: the lock takes effect as soon as the device has a network.
The lock is immediate for whoever is using it
The machine goes out of use right away, with no warning to the user. On a planned offboarding, agree the timing with HR so an in-flight delivery is not interrupted.
Reverting
Every lock is reversible from the dashboard, on the same device page. The reversal also enters the audit trail, with who released it and when.
Frequently asked questions
- Does lockdown work with the machine offline?
- The order stays pending and applies as soon as the device finds a network. For machines that spend a lot of time offline, the local idle-lock policy is the right complement.
- Does a precautionary lock erase the machine's data?
- No. It prevents use of the device; deleting data is a separate, explicit action.
